Sunday, September 1
-Second Annual AquaFest from noon to 6 p.m.  Benefiting the Aquarium at Rockport Harbor. Families are in for a real treat with live water demos and educational exhibits by the US Coast Guard and Texas Parks & Wildlife! Children can try their luck at the Kid Fish and Rubber Ducky Regatta.  The weekend also offers penny pinchers, a dunking booth and a "Gnarly Marley Fun Run"! Don't miss the raffle and silent auction. -Texas A&M University-Kingsville presents “Broadway in the Brush” at 2:30 p.m. The Department of Art, Communications and Theatre at will present the Second Annual Broadway in the Brush, featuring songs from Disney movies and cartoons.  Local and professional singers will present in concert theatrical style with live music and characters. Children are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Disney character. -Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) at UT Marine Science Institute Turtle Release at 10:00 am. Several turtles have been rehabilitated at the ARK and are ready to go home! Bring your camera!  Mustang Island Mile Marker 35. -Art Museum of South Texas Free First Friday from 10:00 am to 5 pm. The first Friday of every month is free public.  The Gift Shop and Hester's Cafe also are open to the public. The Frida Kahlo exhibit itself closes on August 11, so this is the last free Friday to view it before it leaves Corpus Christi. 1901 N. -CC Downtown Artwalk at 5:30 pm.  Come by for an evening of free art, music, and fun. Kids Fun Zone in La Retama park from 5:30pm til 8:30pm.  The tunnel will be open 5:30 – 9:30 with art by Texas A&M students.  Also free entry into museums to  ArtWalkers on ArtWalk night. The Creative Connections Gallery at 1521 N Chaparral. The Art Museum, 1902 Shoreline Blvd, the Asian Cultures Museum, 1809 N Chaparral, the Science & History Museum, 1900 N Chaparral, and the Museum of Hispanic Culture 1617 N Chaparral, are all open free. Due to the ongoing construction work on Chaparral Street ArtWalk is unable to use the 300 & 400 blocks of Peoples Street. As a participant of ArtWalk there will be free admission and a showing of the free PBS film "The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo.". -Art Museum of South Texas Kids Club- Visual Push-Ups from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  Summer vacation is over, and it's time to get back in shape for a slew of awesome art classes at the Museum! Like athletes, artists develop "visual muscles" by lots of practice and use. Museum educators will help young artists hone their artistic skills through a series of fun drawing exercises that can be done anywhere. -W.B. Ray High School Annual Homecoming Parade from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M.  The W.B. Ray High School homecoming parade will start at the softball field near the Staples Street and Kostoryz Road intersection. The parade will travel south on Staples Street, onto eastbound Texan Trail, then northbound on Swantner Drive to Glazebrook Street where the parade will finish at the student parking lot.  In the parade, all of the nominees will be riding in either a car or a float while the band, J.R.O.T.C., other clubs, middle and elementary schools walk/march down Staples St. and Texan trail into the school's parking lot. While the parade is going on, Ray's supporters usually stand on the sides of the streets and watch as the parade goes by. The parade is followed by the burning of the "T".  The Corpus Christi Police Department will escort the students while the students are on city streets. Motorists are asked to be aware of the parade for their own safety, and for the safety of the participants and police officers.

-Art Museum of South Moms & Tots from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.  As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, young artists ages 5-12 will have a fiesta muy grande during this workshop! -Flour Bluff I.S.D. Homecoming Parade from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M.  The Flour Bluff I.S.D. Homecoming parade will assemble at the intersection of the First National Boulevard and Compton Road.
