-La Palmera Tide Turner Kids Club Breakfast with Santa from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  Little ones can celebrate the holidays having breakfast with Santa at the December La Palmera’s Tide Turners Kids Club event. The special event will be held in the upper level play area, and includes visits with Santa, story time, arts and crafts, plus prizes and giveaways. Thursday, December 5
-10th Annual Christmas in Portland from 5:30-8:00 PM.  The event sponsored by the City of Portland and the Kiwanis Club of Portland.  Festivities will include pictures with Santa, Christmas crafts, face painting, cookie decorating, Christmas bingo, letters to Santa, hayrides, winter carnival games, refreshments and appearances by Rudolph and Frosty!  Parents be sure to bring your camera to take a picture with Santa.  (Pictures with Santa begin at 5:00 PM). All participants are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy to this FREE event.  All toys will be donated to Christmas for Kids Year Round.

Friday, December 6
-Janet F. Harte Public Library Holiday Party at 10:00 a.m. Come dance to some holiday music, create a children’s craft, enjoy refreshments, and visit with Santa Claus! Free. Registration is not required. 2629 Waldron Rd. For more information call 361-937-6569.


-Art Museum of South Texas First Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The first Friday of every month is free public admission to the Art Museum of South Texas, courtesy of support from Schlotzsky's.  The Gift Shop and Hester's Cafe also are open to the public. During this time the Christmas Tree Forest, Mexican Folk Art from the Boeckman Collection, Tyler Museum of Art exhibit will be on display. 1902 N Shoreline Blvd

-December CC Downtown Artwalk starts at 5:30 pm.  Artists, food vendors, live music, Kids Fun Zone.  The Tunnel will be open 5:30 - 9:30 and has been transformed into Santa's Grotto where his elves will be on hand to guide families to the Grotto to have a photo taken with Santa while telling him what they want for Christmas. (Free photos available on the Internet courtesy of TheCrushGirls.com - see photographer for details) First 250 kids get a free bag of goodies from Santa. Coffee Waves will be serving free hot chocolate while stocks last. Performances on the Stage in La Retama throughout the evening include Sundance, David Reichenbacher, and a singer songwriter from San Antonio, plus a special performance by Halau Leilani's Aloha of Polynesia - "Christmas Polynesian Style" at 6:30 pm.  Also free entry into museums to ArtWalkers on ArtWalk night. The Creative Connections Gallery at 1521 N Chaparral. The Art Museum, 1902 Shoreline Blvd, the Asian Cultures Museum, 1809 N Chaparral, and the Museum of Hispanic Culture 1617 N Chaparral, are all open free. Due to the ongoing construction work on Chaparral Street ArtWalk is unable to use the 300 & 400 blocks of Peoples Street. Instead Mesquite Street traffic will be restricted to one lane only and the food trucks will occupy the other lane. -Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Department of Music 13th annual Holiday Gala Concert at 7:30 p.m. Children and families are invited to the pre-concert festivities in the lobby which begin at 6:30 p.m. and will include Christmas carols and a coloring station. The concert will feature students and faculty in a wide variety of holiday favorites for the whole family, including familiar Christmas carols and new classics. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 10 and under. All proceeds from the concert will benefit Music Department scholarships. -Navidad de los Niños is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  A favorite annual celebration features food, toys, games, and photos with Santa. The event benefits more than 1,200 disadvantaged children and families annually. Everything is completely free, and all children leave with a goodie bag. There are opportunities to win prizes throughout the event also, including dozens of bicycles with helmets and other toys donated by the community. Antonio E. -Home Depot Kids Workshop: Tic-Tac-Toe Game from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.  Make a fun Tic-Tac-Toe Board.  FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 - 12.  Please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.  All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin.  One workshop kit, apron and pin per child.  Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.  Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis.  At all Home Depot locations.  Call or visit website for more info.  Registration is not required but suggested. http://workshops.homedepot.com/workshops

-Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) Holiday Family Reading Celebration and Book Fair from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The holiday celebration includes a visit from Curby, the Recycling Robot, in a “Going Green” story time presentation at 11 a.m. Story-time events throughout the day will feature Elf on the Shelf, Pete the Cat Saves Christmas, craft activities for kids, and a readers theatre performance by the TAMUCC Student Reading Council. -32nd Annual Harbor Lights Festival starting at 1 pm.  This year's theme is "Old Fashioned Holiday". This fun filled event has grown into a South Texas tradition and is a “must attend” family event. The fun begins with the AEP Texas Children’s parade and continues with the Optimist Club children’s activity area, inflatable games, cookie decorating, live entertainment, food and gift vendors, and enjoyable family activities throughout the evening. -The Lighting of St. Peter's Celebration at 6:00 PM. St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles Parish invites the public to the “Lighting of St. Peter's!”  It is a community event that brings people together to celebrate the Christmas season.  It is family friendly, and there will also be a Christmas party with food and drinks.  Christmas carols will also be sung.  More than 20,000 lights will be used! -Padre Island National Seashore from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Learn how you can help sea turtles during cold stun events, when sea turtles become incapacitated due to sudden, severe cold weather. -La Posada de Kingsville/Parade of Lights in Downtown Kingsville from 7:00 to 9:00pm. This year’s parade theme is “OLDE TYME Christmas” which should inspire a variety of performers and festive interpretations. All organizations are invited to participate. -December Bridgewalk and Fitness Sunday from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm. Come out to Heritage Park on the first Sunday each month and participate in bridge walking.  Yoga, tai chi, zumba, insanity and other fitness based activities begin at 8:30 am and continue till 12 pm.  There is something for all the family.  Registration is not required but they would like a rough idea of how many people to expect http://www.bridgewalkcc.com

-Texas State Aquarium Dollar Day from 9 am to 5 pm. Along with the special price, there will be an enhanced schedule of programs for the event. -Corpus Christi Cathedral Holiday Spectacular! A Touch of Frost! at 10:30am and 2pm.  The event with a cast of over 300 local Coastal Bend residents will showcase the choirs of Corpus Christi Cathedral in a selection of holiday music that will delight the audience no matter what age. The Cathedral will be filled with music to complete your holiday season, concluding with the fully staged and magically costumed pageant of "Love Came Down at Christmas" - a re-enactment of the timeless Christmas Story including angels, shepherds, lambs and the 3 magi. Interpretive movement provided by the Corps de Cathedral Liturgical Movement Ensemble during the pageant will be choreographed by Chrisi Carter, a native of Portland. Directed and Staged by Lee Gwozdz, with coordination of the production by Rachael and Daniel Vasquez, this event promises to be a wonderful Holiday experience for the whole family. -Goose Island State Park Basic Archery Instruction from 9:00 to 10:00 AM.  They will be offering an introduction to archery event. Find out what the parts of a bow are, bow safety, then try your hand at archery! Archery is a sport that requires patience and concentration, skills that can build your confidence. Archery is a great activity for children; children can start learning archery when they are 8 to 10 years old. All they need to start is a teacher, the strength to draw a bow, and to be aware of safety concerns.  At Basic Archery we will provide the gear, the teacher, and the knowledge needed to see if archery is an activity you would like to try. Space is limited for this event and registration is required. If there is a lot of interest multiple sessions may be offered. -Corpus Christi Museum of Science & History New Year’s Eve Overnight starts at 6 pm.  “Kids stay while the parents play!! How cool is it to have a giant slumber party at the museum?!! Kids (5 years and up) will enjoy their very own New Year’s Celebration in a fun and safe environment. Bring your PJs, sleeping bag & pillow! We’ll have super fun Activities, a Pizza Party, group Games, Science Experiments, New Year’s Celebration, Ball Drop, Snacks, Dancing and Breakfast the next morning. Each group will have their own camp counselor who will assure their group has the BEST time!  We will provide dinner, snack, breakfast and lots of fun!  Drop ‘em off at 6p and pick them up the next morning as late as 11 am.”  Cost is $125 per child, multi-child is $80 per child.
