-First Annual New Year's Day Harbor Bridge Walk at 10:00 am.  "The Corpus Christi Downtown Management District in association with the Mayor's Fitness Council and Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation-Live Learn Play Department is proud to announce the First Annual New Year's Day Harbor Bridge Walk. Meet at The Galvan House for a group photograph before heading off over the bridge.  Come and join Colleen McIntyre, Councillor District 4, as she represents Mayor Nelda Martinez this New Year's morning to walk over the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge. Kimberly Cook from the Mayor's Fitness Council will also be there as will I. All we need is for the good folks of Corpus Christi to step up to the fitness challenge and join us. The route is 3.42 miles long (6020 yards), half uphill and half downhill, and it takes anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to run or walk depending on how long you stop to take photographs.  The first 300 people to return to Heritage Park having walked or run the bridge will receive a commemorative coin to mark their achievement.  -January CC Downtown Artwalk starts at 5:30 pm.  Artists, food vendors, live music, Kids Fun Zone.  Also free entry into museums to ArtWalkers on ArtWalk night. The Creative Connections Gallery at 1521 N Chaparral. The Art Museum, 1902 Shoreline Blvd, the Asian Cultures Museum, 1809 N Chaparral, the Science & History Museum, 1900 N Chaparral, and the Museum of Hispanic Culture 1617 N Chaparral, are all open free. Due to the ongoing construction work on Chaparral Street ArtWalk is unable to use the 300 & 400 blocks of Peoples Street. Instead Mesquite Street traffic will be restricted to one lane only and the food trucks will occupy the other lane.  -Home Depot Kids Workshop: Make a Fun Desk Calendar from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.  FREE hands-on workshops designed for children ages 5 - 12.  Please do not arrive before 9:00 a.m. Workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills, tool safety and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.  All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin.  One workshop kit, apron and pin per child.  Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.  Kids Workshop activities are scheduled on a first come/first served basis.  At all Home Depot locations.  Call or visit website for more info.  Registration online will help them better plan their craft kit quantities needed. http://workshops.homedepot.com/workshops

-DMC Richardson Performance Hall presents Anastasia at 7 pm.  For one night only, Nadia's All That Dance Studio from Edinburg Texas, is going to perform their musical theater production of Anastasia. You have the opportunity to see her life portrayed onstage, through a musical adaptation. Enjoy dance, song, and entertainment.  The intriguing history of Anastasia and the Romanov family is a captivating mystery. Grand Duchess Anastasia Romanov was born on June 18, 1901. Her Parents were Nicholas II, the last Tsar of Russia, and his wife Alexandra. Anastasia had three older sisters: Olga, Tatiana, and Maria. Her only brother, Alexi was born in 1904.  Rasputin was believed to have control over the Tsar and his wife and thus added to the political turmoil. Sunday, January 5
-January Bridgewalk and Fitness Sunday from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm.  -Galilean Lutheran Church Festival of Lights starting at 6 pm.  Come celebrate Epiphany, Dia de los Reyes anytime between 6:00 and 7:30.  Follow the Magi through the life of Jesus in this free interactive presentation for the whole family. Every few minutes a group embarks on the 20 minute journey lit by lights and accompanied by a guide, a journey of story, song, games and gifts. Join us inside afterwards for live music and Rosca de Reyes (King Cake). The last group is at 7:15.  Cap off your Christmas season with this festive event for the whole family! -Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department’s ‘Walk to Be Well’ program first walk at 9 am.  Monthly walks on the second Saturday of each month near the pavilion at the Salinas Park, located at 1354 Airport Road (78405).  Before each walk a doctor will make a brief (less than five minutes) presentation on a health topic and then join the walkers as they all make their way around the Salinas Park trail. This is perfect for people who don’t like to go it alone. It is a proven fact that some people stick with their fitness program when it is done with others. EVENT CANCELLED-Art Museum of South Texas Super Sartaday: ReNew, ReUse, ReStart from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.  Learn about the benefits of recycling different materials and how to play a part in preserving and protecting the earth by creating art for this year's Visionarios Youth Art Contest sponsored by Flint Hills Resources. -Asbury Church Family Ministries Free Family Night at 6:30 p.m. Fun for Your Whole Family and All of Your Friends! You are invited to join us for a super fun evening of Volleyball, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution), Foos Ball, Air Hockey, The Ever Popular Spoons Game, Board Games, Ping Pong, Karaoke, Mexican Train, FREE PIZZA and More! Bring some canned goods and win a prize! Pizza and Drinks Designed for kids of all ages. Don't forget that the family/person who brings the most canned goods to family night for the Souper Bowl Challenge will take home a gift certificate! From a simple prayer came the idea...why not use the focus on the Super Bowl to also unify the nation for a higher good: canned food for the needy, thus the name Souper Bowl. Asbury Church feeds between 30-40 families each month. Please support our efforts to continue this ministry to those in need here in Corpus Christi.
