There are always fun things to do on weekends but sometimes you want to do something with your kids during the week. I've picked out a few ideas of fun things to do and the best part is most of them are FREE!

Tuesday, April 19

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center Guided Nature Walk from 8 to 9 am
Get in touch with nature while the weather is still nice.  Please bring good walking shoes, plenty of water, and dress for the weather.  Binoculars and field guides will be loaned on a first come first served basis. All children attending the program must be accompanied by an adult.  Meet at the front porch of the Learning Center. For more information contact Manuel Cantu at 361-826-3947 or

La Retama Central Library S.T.R.EA.M. Team - Loom Knitting at 4:00 pm 
Join us and learn basic loom knitting skills. Make a hat, headband, flower. A meal, courtesy of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, will be served to children participating in the program. Ages 8 and up.

Robert Wollman Planetarium at King High School at 5:30 pm and 7 pm
Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to each show time. There is no late seating. Reservations are not required for the Tuesday evening shows. Tips: The planetarium does get cold at times. For evening shows, it might be a good idea to bring a jacket or sweater.
Cost: Admission (cash or check) Adults $4 Seniors (age 55+): $3, Children (age 4-15) $3, Children under 4 free

Art Center of Corpus Christi Family Art Time from 5 to 9 pm
A kids art project every Wednesday.  FREE for the whole family to enjoy. All ages are welcome (children accompanied by parent/guardian), drop-in art activity, no registration, wear your painting garb!

Ben F. McDonald Public Library Healthy Snack Class with Stephanie Mercado at 4:00 pm Cancelled
The Food Banks Nutritional Educator, Stephanie Mercado, will be stopping by to conduct a fun filled, hands on healthy snack making class for kids.

Buc Days Carnival Opening Day $2 Night at 5 pm
$2 rides, $2 Gate and $2 Games!  Crabtree Amusements will be returning in 2016 as the Buc Days Stripes Carnival provider for the 15th consecutive year. Crabtree Amusements, one of the largest and leading carnival operators in the nation, provides a variety of rides from extreme to mild to satisfy patrons of all ages. New this year is the Petting Zoo Presented By Stripes The newest destination at the festival for the whole family, is the Stripes Petting Zoo. Both children and adults will enjoy feeding and petting, baby deer, goats, llamas and kangaroos in the petting zoo area. Also while at the festival, take a ride on a real live pony! $5 per ride.

Thirsty Thursday (discounted soda and beer), from Stripes.  After 8:30 a.m. on the 21st, go to the Stripes Facebook Pag to learn the Stripes Thirsty Thursday Word of the Day. Later that day or night, repeat the word at the Whataburger Field box office and receive a free Hooks Thirsty Thursday reserved-seat or general admission ticket for each Thirsty Thursday ticket purchased.  National Anthem by the Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial High School Band.

Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic at 7:30 pm
