Corpus Christi Fun for Kids Weekday Picks May 23-26, 2016

There are always fun things to do on weekends but sometimes you want to do something with your kids during the week. I've picked out a few ideas of fun things to do and the best part is most of them are FREE!

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center Guided Nature Walk from 8 to 9 am
Get in touch with nature while the weather is still nice.  Please bring good walking shoes, plenty of water, and dress for the weather.  Binoculars and field guides will be loaned on a first come first served basis. All children attending the program must be accompanied by an adult.  Meet at the front porch of the Learning Center. For more information contact Manuel Cantu at 361-826-3947 or manuelc2@cctexas.com.

Board games, puzzles and X-Box Kinect! (ages 3+)

La Retama Central Library S.T.R.EA.M. Team - Loom Knitting at 4 pm 
Join us and learn basic loom knitting skills. Make a hat, headband, flower. A meal, courtesy of the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, will be served to children participating in the program. Ages 8 & up.

Janet F. Harte Public Library Kids' After-school Movie at 4:15 pm 
Join us as we enjoy a family favorite. We provide a snack and drink, but you are welcome to bring your own munchies, a blanket, and pillow! All ages.

Robert Wollman Planetarium at King High School at 5:30 pm and 7 pm
Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to each show time. There is no late seating. Reservations are not required for the Tuesday evening shows. Tips: The planetarium does get cold at times. For evening shows, it might be a good idea to bring a jacket or sweater.

Corpus Christi Hooks Mike Shaw Automotive Family Night at 7:05 pm (gates open 6:05)
4 reserved-seat tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and parking - a $78 value for $30 - with coupon from previous Sunday or Monday edition of the Corpus Christi Caller-Times. Look for the Mike Shaw Automotive wrap or insert. National Anthem by Beeville's Moreno Junior High School Band.

For kids 0-17 yrs old, stop by and R.E.A.D to one of our pawsome four legged canines brought to you by Paws Up. Limited space. Sign up the day before or day of event. Parent or guardian must be present.

Art Center of Corpus Christi Family Art Time from 5 to 9 pm
A kids art project every Wednesday.  FREE for the whole family to enjoy. All ages are welcome (children accompanied by parent/guardian), drop-in art activity, no registration, wear your painting garb!

Corpus Christi Hooks Whataburger Family Day at 7:05 pm (gates open 6:05)
Whataburger Family Day; buy a ticket at the box office and get your kid’s ticket free. Donate your gently-used clothing item to Goodwill near the main gates at the giant Whataburger fry box. In exchange, you’ll get a new Hooks t-shirt, ticket voucher and special Whataburger coupon offer!

Corpus Christi Hooks Mike Shaw Automotive Thirsty Thursday at 7:05 pm (gates open 6:05)
Thirsty Thursday (discounted soda and beer), from Stripes. After 8:30 am on the 12th, go to the Stripes Facebook Page to learn the Stripes Thirsty Thursday Word of the Day. Later that day or night, repeat the word at the Whataburger Field box office and receive a free Hooks Thirsty Thursday reserved-seat or general admission ticket for each Thirsty Thursday ticket purchased.
