Featured Attraction: Getting Lost at Rockin' K Maze

Tuesday, September 6, 2016
I've lived in South Texas all my life and have grown up used to the fact that we don't have a "real" Fall. However, it's still my favorite season of the year.  I live for the very brief time that there is a slight chill in the air and I can bust out those sweaters, boots and warm drinks ( although I'm not a fan of the Pumpkin Spice Latte ugh). This is also the time for festivals and pumpkin patches! Another popular Fall activity in many areas is to visit a "corn" maze. This was never an option here in the Corpus Christi area until 2013 when Rockin' K Maze changed that. Now it has become a fun tradition that my family looks forward to come the Fall season.

When you go to Rockin' K Maze, you have a choice of two paths through the maze, an easy one and the harder regular one. A friendly helper hands you a “passport” before you enter with tips to guide you through the maze. It's a great family bonding activity although our little one always wants to run off ahead of us. There is a lot to do, not just the maze (over 20 activities).  They have some adorable goats, a fun cow train ($1 a ride), a rope spider web, pumpkin bowling, hamster wheel roll in a huge tire which is hilarious and much more! Last year they even added a pumpkin patch. This year Farmer FoosBall is all new!  They've also added a long list of family friendly events like "Pumpkin Fest", a Halloween event, and even a Christmas event!  You definitely want to add a trip to Rockin' K Maze to your Fall agenda!

Tips: Wear comfortable shoes like sneakers or boots. I do not recommend flip flops or sandals, especially because there might be bugs or cracks in the dirt. Don't worry too much about getting lost! There are a few "emergency" exits if it gets a little overwhelming. Plan to spend a minimum of a couple of hours out there. Our favorite time to go is several hours before close on a Sunday because it's not as hot and the sky is absolutely gorgeous. There are port-a-potties but if your little ones are squeamish, hit up one of the gas stations before you get there. The nearest one is about 10 minutes drive. Outside food or drinks are not allowed but if you get hungry, they have a snack bar called the "The Kountry Kitchen". We're big fans of their Kettle Korn!

Rockin' K Maze opens October 1 thru November 20. This year the theme is Whataburger (last year it was Coca-Cola).  It's located just outside Robstown, Texas at the intersection of FM 666 and CR 52.

Hours: Saturdays 10 am-8pm, Sundays 1-5pm
Admission prices: (3-64) $10.00 + tax, Seniors (65+) $ 8.00 + tax, Children 2 and under are free! Cow train ride is $1.  Ticket booth closes 30 minutes before posted closing time.  This year you can also prepurchase your tickets online!
