Valentine's Day is almost here and there are many fun things to do to celebrate a little early with the kids! Remember, some of these activities may require registration. Join us for an after school game session with the WiiU.

Portland Texas Parks and Recreation Department 8th Annual Father Daughter Dance Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball from 6:30 to 9:30 pm
All school age girls are invited to bring their father, grandfather, uncle, brother or other father figure to the event. The Community Center will be decorated in a mardi gras masquerade theme. Current pop music and Dad’s favorites will be spun by a professional DJ. A photographer will be available at an additional cost. Guests are asked to wear semi-formal attire. Cost: $25.00/couple, $10.00/additional child

Puppy Love 5K at 7 am
Dogs can run (with their owners) in either the 5K or the 1K dog run. 5K awards for top 3 finishers per age division. 1K dog run awards top 3 dogs Cost: Puppy Love 5K 5K RUN - $25, 5K RUN (12 AND UNDER) - $15, 1K DOG RUN - $25, Strollers are welcome, Register online.

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center Guided Nature Walks! from 9 to 10 am
Meet on the Learning Center porch. Please bring good walking shoes, plenty of water, and dress for the weather. This program is FREE of charge and open to individuals and families. Binoculars and field guides will be loaned on a first come first served basis. All children attending the program must be accompanied by an adult. For more information contact 361-826-PLAY (7529)

Early Scholars Academy Family Explorer Days from 9 to 11 am
Parents, bring your children for an educational experience like no other! Come visit our state of the art facility for interactive learning in one of our 3 thematic pods. All Around the World consists of the Tropics, Ocean, and Polar discovery centers. All Things Living consists of the Greenhouse, Amazing Me, and Animal discovery centers. Destination Exploration consists of the Space, Earth, and Community discovery centers. Self-guided lessons will lead you and your child as you discover and learn together.

Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History Family Fun Day: Giddy up to the Chisholm Trail Celebration from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm 
In 1867 the iconic symbol of cowboy culture, the Chisholm Trail, began to wind its way from Texas to Kansas. Join us in celebrating the 150th birthday of the Chisholm Trail! We'll have a petting zoo, trail map, old time photos, actors in costume, cowboy activities, and more! Join us as we welcome children's author, Lauren Kay Patrick, to Barens & Noble. Lauren will follow up national storytime with a storytime of her book Helping Daddy Ray on the Farm. Helping Daddy Ray on the Farm follows Kirby Rose as she looks back on some of her hilarious adventures with her grandpa, Daddy Ray, on their farm. From getting tractors stuck, to feeding the cows, he always has a good time in store for Kirby.

Art Museum of South Texas Young Artists Workshop heARTS and Crafts from 1 to 3 pm

We'll use a variety of materials, including paint, glitter glue, and stamps to create one-of-a-kind cards as well as a colorful work of heART on canvas that will make the perfect Valentine's gift. Goose Island State Park Night HIke from 7 - 8 pm
Join us for a night hike! The park comes alive after dark with creatures that hoot, creep, and crawl! On this walk we will look for those creatures.
Cost: Valid park entry required to enter the park, $5 per individual 13 & up. No fee for attending the program.

Big Squeeze Talent Showcase from 2 - 4 pm
The emphasis for this showcase is CONJUNTO but all young accordionists in any of the above styles are encouraged to show up an hour before start time to register for our contest. Texas Folklife, Hacienda Records and McDonald Public Library are pleased to announce that our third Big Squeeze Talent Showcase of 2017 is in Corpus Christi, TX. We are excited to find and showcase accordion talent! We are looking for accordion players ages 21 and under to showcase their performance abilities in three main accordion genre categories: Polka, Cajun / Zydeco and Conjunto.
