First of the month always brings lots of fun events and activities! Remember, some of these activities may require registration. Always check with the organizations for the most updated information or if you have any questions. We appreciate the shares and likes. If we're missing something, let us know! Port Aransas Community Theatre Presents Disney's The Lion King at 7:30 pm (and 2:30 pm on Sunday)
Rafiki gathers all the animals to weclome the newborn cub of King Mufasas and Queen Sarabi. The king's jealous brother, Scar, no longer heir to the throne, skips the ceremony, upsetting Mufasa. Young Simba grows into a curious young lion, Mufasas explains the circle of life and that the young Simba will one day be King of the Pirdelands. Young Simba shares this news with Scar, who encourages his nephew to visit the forbidden Elephant Graveyard and the adventures begin as Scar tries to kill Simba and Mufasas. A wonderful family Disney production. A must see. The circle of life.

Aurora Arts Theater Presents Fiddler on the Roof at 7:30 pm (and 2:30 pm on Sunday)
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.

Optimist Coastal Bend Chess Federation Back to School: Supply our Students Chess Tournament from 8 am to 4 pm 
United States Chess Federation (U.S.C.F.) Sanctioned Tournament. USCF 6th edition rulebook. 5-Round Swiss in 4 Sections: Primary (K-3), Elementary (K-5/6), Middle School (K-8) and High School (K-12). Time Controls: Game/30;d5 (Thirty minutes per side per game with a 5-second delay if clocks permit) All students grades K through 12. Students who register for sections above their grade level play as individuals only and are not eligible for team trophies.
Cost: $15.00. USCF membership required: $17 for Scholastic (ages 12-under), $22 for Youth (ages 13 -15), or $26 for Young adults (age 16 – 24). Please pay appropriate USCF fees online/on-site OR show proof of current membership for each player. For new chess tournament players, the OCBCF will waive their first tournament fee with proof of a current USCF membership. The OCBCF will reduce the entry fee one dollar for every two school supply items you bring (up to $5). Feel free to bring more to help support “Supply our Students”.

14th Annual Kid Katch Youth Fishing Tournament from 9:00 am -12:00 pm
Children 17 and under are invited to participate in three different age categories. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age group for Biggest Fish. Free lunch is provided and t-shirts will be given to the first 200 registered. The event is strictly measure and release. Parents may accompany children.  (fishing ends at 11:00 AM)

Oso Bay Wetlands Preserve and Learning Center Guided Nature Walks from 9 to 10 am
Meet on the Learning Center porch. Please bring good walking shoes, plenty of water, and dress for the weather. This program is FREE of charge and open to individuals and families. Home Depot Kids Club from 9 am to 12 pm
Hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a wooden Penske truck to roll some fun into August. Once the project is complete, your child can personalize their truck with stickers and paint. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.

Free fun art time for families every Saturday! Families of all ages are welcome. CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT, drop-in art activity, no registration. While supplies last.

Alamo Drafthouse Corpus Christi PBS Kids at the Alamo: Ready Jet Go at 10:30 am

Marina Arts District BridgeWalk from 8:30 am - 11 am 
Registration starts at 7:15 am and Walk begins at 8:30 pm,  BridgeWalk is a monthly opportunity to get some exercise with a one of a kind view. The bridge route takes you up and over the beautiful Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge. The Alternate route for those with strollers, small children, and animals can take the scenic route down along the water to the Marina T Heads and back. Both routes are measured to be 6020 yards (3.42 miles).
