Is it really time to start thinking about Summer Camp? We've compiled this year's list of Corpus Christi area Summer camps that are currently registering or are about to. There are many more coming but some won't post their information until closer to the end of school. Check back often for updates!

Play Out Loud Music Studio
Sessions June 11 to July 30, 2018
Offering a variety of camps and workshops this summer for children starting at age 3. All will have a musical element, and many do not require any previous musical experience. Several camps will actually teach beginner kids/teens HOW to play the piano, others will be more specialized, teaching composition, rhythm, etc.

Educational Camps

Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center and TAMUCC College of Education Very Important Kid (VIK) Arts and Reading Summer Camps
Sessions: Weekly from June 4 through June 29th, 2018
9 am-12 pm and 12:30-3 pm
Camp focuses on visual arts, performing arts, and reading for children age 5-12. Camp takes place Monday through Friday and includes a lunch provided by the City of Corpus Christi. The camp runs in two 2-week-long sessions. Students can attend one or both. At the end of each session, students put on a special exhibition and performance that parents and friends are invited to attend. A cookie and punch reception will be held for our young artists and performers and their families.

Corpus Christi Museum Science Camp 
Session: June 4 to August 17, 2018

Open to children 4 years to 6th grade. Campers must have turned 4 years old by December 31, 2017. CCMSH must be provided with a copy of the 4 year old camper’s birth certificate. Cost includes a camp t-shirt, snack each day, week of themed programming, a trip to Hurricane Alley every Wednesday, and another field trip every Thursday

Del Mar College Vikings Kids Camp
Sessions: June 11 through July 20, 2018
9 am-Noon and 1-4 pm
Summer enrichment program for students entering grades 3rd through 8th. Students participate in a fun, non-pressured academic environment and explore new interests and academic areas

TAMUCC Young Authors' Writing Camp
Sessions: June 18 through 29, 2018
8:30 am to 12 pm and 12:30 to 4:30 pm (for grades 3-5), 8:30 am to 4 pm (for grades 6-8)
The camp is designed to provide elementary and middle school students/authors with opportunities to expand their interest in writing and to experience writing as a fun and creative opportunity for self-expression and communication with others. This 29th annual Young Authors' Camp will include a variety of writing activities visits with poets and artists, and nature walks. Each author will receive camp material, a t-shirt, and a camp anthology. The camp staff consists of a team of university professors, elementary school teachers, and university students. Admission to each camp is limited to 25 and will be based on the order in which registrations are received.

TAMUCC Writers' Island Workshop

The workshop is designed to provide high school writers with opportunities to expand their interest in writing and to experience a professional style writer's workshop. This 9th annual Writers' Island Workshop will include a variety of writing activities as well as visits with poets and artists and nature walks. Each author will receive camp material and a t-shirt. Del Mar College Kids Technology Camp
Sessions: June 11 through July 22, 2018
1-4 pm
This Camp is designed for students in grades 3-8 to have the opportunity to explore academic areas of computer programming, app creation, and computer animation in a structured, non-pressured academic environment. Students gain advanced knowledge in working high-tech computer programs which allows them to build, create, and design their own computer programs, apps, and animations. Students also improve social, critical thinking and problem-solving skills by working in pairs or teams for most of the program. All student projects created can be saved and shared with family and friends. STEM Summer Institute Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Summer Institute is a place for K-12 students to learn about STEM related topics and STEM careers. STEMSI is offered by the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and allows K-12 students to take week long camps during the summer to experience creativity in STEM related topics. Art Museum of South Texas “The Fine Art of Summer Camp”

Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Islander Band Camps

Students will experience music-making with TAMUCC faculty and outstanding area music artists and educators. Classes will consist of group lessons, sectionals, full ensemble rehearsals, and basic music theory. Students will also enjoy activities each day, including games and recitals. Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Department of Music Coastal Bend String Camp
Session: June 11-June 16, 2018
9 am - 5 pm
The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Coastal Bend String Camp offers elementary, middle school, and high school students the opportunity to come to the "Island University" for a week of music and fun. The camp is open to all students with at least two years of experience on a string instrument. Students will experience music-making with TAMU-CC string faculty and outstanding area music artists and educators. Classes offered are: string orchestra, sectionals, chamber music, Mariachi, World Music and Rhythm. Students will also enjoy activities each day, including recreational events and recitals. Students will be divided by age group—Elementary School, Middle School or High School.

Del Mar College All State Choir Camp
Session: June 25-28, 2018
High school singers! Come to the Gulf Coast in Corpus Christi to prepare the 2018-19 TMEA audition music during an intense, but fun-filled summer camp. A packed schedule of sectional and full choir rehearsals, diction lessons, vocal technique and sight-reading sessions will be led by an experienced staff of music educators. Camp highlights include a beach party, talent show, movies, a dance, karaoke and more.
Costs: $190 tuition for all participants on or before June 12 ($40 late fee after deadline); $150 overnight housing fee (includes breakfast and shuttle fees) if camper is staying at designated, chaperoned hotel; and $25 for music packets (if student’s school doesn’t provide music).

Youth Odyssey Adventure Leadership Camps

An exciting, inquiry-based learning experience for students entering 3rd through 8th grade. Working alongside marine scientists from the University of Texas, students will experience science outside of the classroom. By the end of the program, students will gain a deep personal appreciation for the marine environment, become aware of local and global threats, learn to solve complex problems using the scientific method and understand what it truly means to be a scientist. Each week has equal amounts of time spent in the field, in the lab, and on the water.

YWTeens Leadership Camps
Sessions: June 4 through August 23, 2018
Intensive, four-day workshops designed to teach girls group dynamics, leadership skills and multi-cultural communication skills. The camps provide girls the opportunity to learn how to establish short and long-term goals and the steps it takes to be successful in achieving their goals; express their own creativity; open their eyes to their strengths, personal qualities and values; learn how to be a leader in a tough world; and explore continuing education choices and career options.
Cost: There is no cost for girls who are already enrolled in the YWTeen Program; however, the camps are open to all girls completing 5th and 6th grade. The tuition fee for non-YWTeens is $110 per girl and tuition assistance is available for qualified participants.

Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department’s Latchkey Summer Camps
Sessions: June 11 through August 3, 2018
7:30 am–6 pm (Closed July 4th)
Features a variety of activities that provide physical and social benefits, as well as outlets for children to explore their creativity and self-express. The camps offer opportunities to discover new interests, develop new friends, and learn positive life skills. Activities include swimming, tennis, arts and crafts, guest speakers and field trips for children ages 5 to 13. The program is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services which means that Latchkey Camps meet high standards for child care and everyone is certified in CPR and First Aid. Our enthusiastic staff are professionally trained in child development and age appropriate activities. Free lunch and snacks will be provided to all qualifying sites through a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
Cost: $99/week per child, FB/Callalen locations $89/week per child. Tuition assistance is available for qualified participants. Must pay one week of tuition at the time of registration (check or money order only).

Texas A&M University Islander Rec Camp
Sessions: June 4 through August 10, 2018
7:30 am-5:30 pm
Children are able to let their active sides shine through an all-day non-sport specific recreational camp. Organized games, such as dodgeball, kickball, knock out, and other IRC staple games, such as Squirrel Ball, Medic, and Satellite, keep the campers active as they learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for their peers. Other activities include swimming, climbing the rock wall, and arts and crafts. TAMU-CC students serve as camp counselors. This camp is perfect for parents and children looking to have a fun and active summer! For children ages 5-12.
Cost: $100 per child/week

Portland Parks and Recreation Department Summer Kidz Kamp
Sessions: June 4 through July 27
7 am-6 pm
This program is offered to children 5-12 years of age who will be entering Kindergarten through 6th grade for the 2018-2019 school year. Activities include games, sports, swimming, science and nature activities, field trips, special events, arts and crafts, healthy eating, and a summer jogging club. The children are grouped by ages and class size is limited. All instructors are certified in CPR/First Aid. This program is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Transportation can be provided from City sports camps and swim lessons. Parent must notify staff of enrollment to arrange pick up. Children must provide their own lunch; a morning and afternoon snack is provided.
